Hydrasynth Digital Based on Synths like the Roland D-50 & Korg Wavestation. Soundscapes, Splits layers and more.
If you are going to design hydrasynth sounds, why not do a huge effort job?
For this project I wanted to design sounds that came under a digital category influenced by such classics as the Roland D-50 and Korg Wavestation together with my own influence and tastes. Also a section virtual Analog of course as it influenced digital synthesis. Think soundscapes, layers/ pads, synth music and even bass/lead splits. Not too many traditional synth instrument sounds here, there are thousands of these already available, but the kind of sound that inspire new ideas. These were the worthwhile sounds for me to design for this project.
Please note that these sounds work on all hydrasynths, even the splits and layers.
These where my favourite patches I developed from the init patch over 2 months for this project that I curated (ie binned many of the patches I developed that were not special). (I am still 100% open to improving my packs in the future)
This hydrasynth pack was really designed to go with my other packs to try and achieve making up an overall sound palette project more in line with Roland cloud, Arturia and Omnisphere (such good sound designers). While some are for sure influenced by some classic nostalgic synthsounds, i didn't want this pack to simply be a cloning exercise, I wanted to use my tastes and experience to add more.
My sound taste influences include classic 80s synth pop, early dance music, Vangelis, to Daft Punk and even Aphex Twin. A lot of these sounds are just as popular today, think The Weeknd or Taylor Swift even, and the rise of retro music like synthwave and chillwave. A huge range of music and beyond. Of course I owned so many synthesizers over the years, each with their own flavour thart would have an influence also.
You can use these to influence your own tunes, and/or you can use the hydrasynth patches I designed to backwards engineer the sounds to learn how I made them. The classic sounds are epic, but designing new sounds is also a real achievement and encourage anyon into it. Start with the init patch and just keep copying and pasting to the next patch each time you find something useful, or just start from the init patch.
I don't just design synthesizer sounds, I also make music (200k + plays across all platforms): https://tenalock.bandcamp.com/
